About the Author

Candice Klopfenstein

Through her deep friendships with refugees, working with a local refugee organization and living in countries with diverse cultures, Candice Klopfenstein came to understand the fundamental desire of people everywhere to have a secure and peaceful place to call home. Her personal journey of belonging has led her to look for ways to help others to experience a life full of peace, hope, joy and laughter. As the writer of heartfelt stories, her desire is to reaffirm value and bring hope to children and families everywhere.

Candice loves time with her family, spending time in nature and reading a good book. As a child, she developed a lifelong love for picture books, creating art projects and collecting seashells. Candice lives in Chicago, Illinois with her husband. This is her first book for children.

The children represent a variety of cultures where many people have had to leave their homes and the places they belong. The illustrations and text create a space for children to feel seen, have hope and know they are valuable.
